Training Days

The following training days are planned for 2012:


  • Wednesday evening, April 25 - Arjen Kjielstra (west of Asquith)
  • Sunday, May 27 - Lynn Oliphant (east of Saskatoon)
  • Sunday, June 10 - Guy & Monique Pulvermacher (Bruno) This is the traditional "Family Day" beginning at noon with a firepit potluck supper in the evening.
  • Sunday, July 22 - Joe & Sheila Schmutz (Alvena) Morning training, bring your own lunch, water training in the early afternoon.
  • Saturday, Aug 18 - Byron & Kaley Pugh (east of Delisle) BBQ to follow this one!

 

Details such as time, directions, bird availability etc. will be sent out to club members by e-mail about 1 week prior to each training session. Please respond to these emails to say you are coming, so that you can be contacted in case weather causes a delay to another day.

A two day test is now full, waiting list being formed for a possible 3rd day of testing.

Other Events

 

The annual meeting was held on Saturday afternoon, February 11. Several members gathered for supper afterwards.

A demonstration is planned at the new Cabella's store in Preston Crossing on June 23. Dena Orosz & Rich Schryer are coordinating this event.


Special Projects

 

The Saskatoon Gun Dog Club has joined the North American Grouse Partnership as a sustaining member. This organization is a hunter based group that is trying to help monitor and sustain grouse populations. Contact Lynn Oliphant if you are willing to participate in surveys of spring sharp-tailed grouse leks.

Lynn Oliphant also organized collection of DNA cheek brushes from versatile hunting dogs owned by our members for a study to help identify the genes involving in pointing run by Dr. Mark Neff of Michigan.
